Replacing the blades on a Margaritaville machine

Every Margaritaville machine has two blades: the shaving blade under the ice reservoir, which shaves ice into the jar, and the blending blade at the bottom of the jar. They wear out separately. Unplug the machine first, and handle both blades by their plastic parts — they are sharp.

When to replace

The manuals say to inspect the jar, shaving blade and blending blade for nicks, chips or cracks, and to stop using them if they are damaged (manual: Bahamas). Signs of wear:

Shaving blade (in the ice reservoir)

The Bahamas manual describes removing it: with the ice reservoir off the machine, turn the shaving blade assembly nut counterclockwise and remove the nut and blade (manual: Bahamas DM0500). Reverse to install the new one. On the Bahamas the hopper and blade are sold together as an assembly (part 123654-000-000, currently unavailable on Amazon).

Blending blade (in the jar)

The blending blade sits in the jar base with a sealing ring. When you reassemble, check that the sealing ring is seated and the jar base is tightened — the manuals’ fix for a leaking jar (manual: Bahamas, DM1946, Bali). Don’t twist the jar when you lift it off the machine, which can loosen the base.

Buy the right part

Match the part number printed in your manual’s parts list, not just the model family — Key West, Bahamas and Fiji parts aren’t always interchangeable. Our parts hub lists the numbers we could verify, and the manuals have the diagrams.

Safety

The DM1946 manual states the appliance has no user-serviceable parts. Replacing a jar-side blade assembly or the hopper assembly is a parts swap, not a repair. If the motor, drive coupler or electronics fail, contact Margaritaville support instead of opening the base.
