How to clean a Margaritaville machine

Based on the cleaning sections of the Bahamas (DM0500), DM1946 and Bali (DM3500) manuals. Always unplug first, never immerse the base, and don’t use solvents.

After every use (all models)

1. Empty and rinse the blending jar.
2. Pull out the ice-melt reservoir and empty it.
3. Wipe the base with a damp cloth.

Deep clean — Bahamas DM0500

1. Unplug. Turn the ice reservoir lid clockwise to unlock it, then turn and lift off the ice reservoir.
2. Press the button under the ice chute and unscrew the shaving paddle counter-clockwise (rotate it half a turn if the button won’t press).
3. Press the two release catches and lift out the ice hopper.
4. Unscrew the shaving blade assembly nut and remove the shaving blade — it’s sharp. Rinse and dry it thoroughly before storing.
5. Lift the jar straight up (don’t twist), turn it upside down, unscrew the jar base and remove the blending blade and sealing ring.
6. Jar, jar lid, blending blade, sealing ring, jar base and ice-melt reservoir can go in the top rack of the dishwasher. Parts that only touch ice and water (ice reservoir and lid, shaving paddle, hopper, deflector, shaving blade) should be washed by hand with warm soapy water and air-dried.

Bali DM3500 quick clean

Fill the drink chamber about halfway (about 32 oz / 1 L) with warm, soapy water, hold Blend Only for about 20 seconds, then dispense the water out through the spout. For a full clean, follow the manual’s disassembly steps.

Avoid cracking the jar

Don’t put ice or very cold liquid into a jar that just came out of a hot dishwasher, or hot liquids into a jar from the freezer — the manuals warn the sudden temperature change can crack it.

After dairy drinks

Rinse right away after mudslides or other ice-cream drinks; dried dairy is much harder to remove.
